Frequently Asked Questions
Which islands should I visit?
One of the wonderful things about French Polynesia is the variety of experiences available in just one destination. For most travelers, we recommend a combination of Moorea and Bora Bora for their first trip – Bora Bora is the jewel of the South Pacific, and the magnificent island of Moorea complements it very well. We explain more about our favorite islands in our article, "Where is Tahiti". There are other islands we’d recommend for repeat visitors or those in search of something “off the beaten path.” Just connect with one of our Certified Tahiti Specialists to help them recommend the best itinerary for your trip of a lifetime!
How long will it take to travel to Tahiti?
Faa’a International airport in Papeete, Tahiti is approximately 8 ½ hours from North America, 6 hours from Honolulu, 5 hours from Auckland, or 11 hours from Tokyo.
Do I have to spend a night in Papeete, Tahiti?
It may be necessary to spend a night in Papeete, Tahiti depending upon your flight schedule. If you arrive in Papeete late in the day, then you should plan on spending your arrival night on the island of Tahiti because most flights or ferries are not offered after 5pm. If your return flight to the United States departs Papeete early in the morning, then you should plan to spend your last night on the main island of Tahiti because most flights from connecting islands do not arrive until 8:30am or later.
Can I get an all-inclusive plan?
Most of the major hotels in French Polynesia have not adapted the “all-inclusive” model and instead have the European “a la carte” model. There are one or two hotels that offer all meals, beverages, activities, etc. as part of their “all-inclusive” rate. However, most hotels will include American buffet breakfast as part of their standard rate and offer the option to pre-purchase a dinner, lunch, or lunch and dinner plan. In most cases, there is no cost incentive to pre-purchase meals. In other words, you may not save any money by buying a dinner plan. This also allows you the flexibility of trying restaurants outside of your hotel or resort. However, there are a few exceptions to this rule. Our experts can make recommendations about your specific islands and hotels to be sure that you get the best bang for your buck.
Do I have to pay for my trip up front?
We want you to feel comfortable with all the facts about your trip before you make a commitment. Rest assured that you won’t have to pay toward your trip until your reservations have been confirmed. To secure your reservations and finalize your booking, a deposit will be processed upon confirmation and then the balance of your trip will be due at least 45 days prior to your departure (in most cases). Please see our Booking and Deposit Procedures for more detail on deposit requirements.
Do you price match?
In many cases, we can meet or beat quotes you may have received from other companies. Simply provide us with the written quote and our team will make sure you receive an “apples to apples” comparison to get you the best value for your dollar. Of course, our expertise and superior service will remain unmatched!
Are payment plans available?
Of course! Clients are welcome to break up their final balance payments if they prefer. These payments can be for whatever amount you desire, whenever you prefer. We will provide you with a receipt via email for all payments processed. The only requirement is that your trip balance is paid in full by the due date, which is usually 45 days before your departure.
How can I pay for my trip?
We accept payments by Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, Zelle, personal checks, and bank transfers.
Besides our Package with Venture Tahiti, what additional costs should we plan for?
Our package price includes all VAT taxes, resort fees and resort taxes. There is a communal tax of approximately $1.60 – $2.20 per person per night that will be imposed by the local government. For legal reasons, we are not able to collect and pay this tax in advance and it must be paid directly to the hotels upon check-out. Other than this small local tax, there will be no added costs at check-out apart from any incidental spending you may have charged to your room during your stay (beverages, meals, spa treatments, etc.).

We are often asked about the cost of food in Bora Bora and Tahiti. Food tends to be a bit expensive in French Polynesia. It is on par with dining out in New York, Los Angeles or Honolulu. If you are trying to stick to a preferred travel budget, regardless of how much you plan to spend, the cost of dining in French Polynesia should be considered in your travel and vacation planning.
Which islands to visit and how many islands you should visit depends a lot on how long you plan to stay in French Polynesia. We typically advise clients to spend at least 3 nights on each island in their itinerary (except possibly the Island of Tahiti). Spending less than 3 nights tends to make travelers feel too rushed. After all, you are going there to at least try to relax.
The St. Regis Bora Bora Resort is absolutely incredible. There are no words to describe the beauty of Tahiti and the staff there was wonderful. I cannot thank Venture Tahiti enough for helping us book the most incredible experience of our lives!! We plan on bringing our children there very soon!
The spa is beautiful, we had a great couples massage! ...the excursions are amazing & the best snorkeling channel around! It's worth every penny you spend and an experience of a lifetime! The sunsets are the best you will ever see! We used VENTURE TAHITI in Boca Raton, Florida to book our trip and it went off without a hitch. They did an excellent job and I highly recommend them!
I wanted to say thanks for helping us set up an amazing trip. We are home safe & sound! Everything was wonderful-- I am so happy you recommended the Shark & Ray tour on Bora Bora-- it was by far our favorite thing that we did! We ended up relaxing on Taha'a as it was the most perfect place to unwind and get massages. All of the hotels were awesome-- Le Taha'a Resort and The Conrad were our favorites! We absolutely loved our beach bungalow (it was huge!!)
